The 5 Elements in Chinese Metaphysics
In Chinese metaphysics these 5 elements is the base for everything, and its imperative to try a balance between them, either you are working in any of the techniques of Feng Shui or Bazi or QiMen (these same concepts apply even in traditional Chinese Medicine and the study of the meridians).
The 5 elements have a Yin and a Yang representation, but here we will mention just a few general attributes of each of these elements.
Water
Water represents a person’s wisdom, intelligence, capacity of thinking clearly, when is of good quality in the natal chart or Bazi.
Associated to the feeling of fear but also creativity and intuition.
Represents in the body, the kidneys and bladder, also bones and head among others.
The flavor is salty and the sense is hearing.
The direction is the North.
Wood
Wood represents growth, learning capacity, benevolence, gratitude and progress.
Associated to the feelings of anger, frustration, as well as assertiveness, kindness, curiosity and hope.
In the body represents the liver, gallbladder, tendons, muscle, hair, legs or limbs among others.
The flavor is sour/acidic and the sense is the vision.
The direction is the East and the South East.
Fire
Fire represents awareness, elegance, energy, speed, dynamic, clarity and discernment.
Associated to the feelings of passion, joy, love, and rage or hate.
In the body it represents the heart, small intestines, eyes, neck, mouth, nerves among others.
The flavor is bitter, and the sense is taste.
The direction is the South.
Earth
Earth represents stability, a sense of trust and grounding.
Associated to the feelings of safety, satisfaction, balance, stillness, stubborn and obsession.
In the body represents the stomach, spleen, thighs, liver, adipose tissue among others.
The flavor is sweets and the sense is speech.
The direction is the North East and the South West.
Metal
Metal represents the decision making capacity, a sense of justice, the righteousness, the capacity of letting go, toughness and reserved.
Associate with the feeling of grief, sadness, melancholy, and courage.
In the body represents the lungs, colon, the skin, the back among others.
The flavor is spice and the sense is smell.
The direction is the West and the North West.
